UNLEARNING HOW TO READ THE BIBLE

When we have theological disagreements most often we are really debating what the Bible is, what its says and why that matter. In this workshop we take it all back to fundamentals: how do we read? where does meaning come from? what actually is the Bible? how can we de-weaponise our reading? Through group activities, individual reflection and some from the front teaching, we will explore our own rhythms of reading, and create inventive ways to disrupt old habits.

SEEING THINGS: POEMS AND IDEAS TO SEE MORE CLEARLY

How is it that we see?

In this talk/workshop we turn to contemporary poetry, ancient theology and Stephen King in order to look at our world and each other with clarity and empathy. Why is it that we all have 'main character syndrome?' Why do we treat others as 2D, and think of ourselves as full-colour, 5.1 surround sound characters? In this session we turn to old and new ideas, to Translink and St Paul, to disrupt that most original of sins: thinking we are at the centre of the universe's story.
